Welcome back to my blog. Today I am going to be reviewing one of the most hyped brands in India called Mama Earth. And I have with me CoCo Face Scrub with Coffee and Cocoa. Let us dive into the product details.

Packaging of Mama Earth CoCo Face Scrub with Coffee and Cocoa for Rich Exfoliation:

The Mama earth face scrub comes in tube packaging. The details like how to use the face scrub, the ingredient list, claims etc are mentioned on the packaging itself. There is no additional carton packaging. On the packaging they have mentioned they are plastic positive meaning; the company recycles more plastic than they actually use. Which I think is a great initiative.

The price of CoCo Face Scrub with Coffee and Cocoa is Rs. 349 for 100 grams of the product.

Ingredients of Mama Earth CoCo Face Scrub with Coffee and Cocoa:

The following is the list of ingredients. The scientific names of the ingredients are mentioned. So it becomes slightly difficult to understand for day-to-day consumers.

Water or Aqua is used in many cosmetic products as it has its own benefits.

Crosspolymer is a synthetic ingredient that is commonly used in the cosmetic industry to improve the feel and appearance of skincare products. It is usually used as a thickening agent or maybe an emulsifier.

Disodium EDTA prevents the products from undergoing ph changes, colour changes, consistency changes etc.

Laureth-23 is a cleansing agent.

Direction for use:

The usual way, how you would normally apply a scrub. Take sufficient quantity and apply over wet neck and face. Scrub gently in circular motions and rinse off.

The direction for use states, that it can be used twice a week.

Also, a disclaimer is provided, that the colour of the scrub may change over time, due to the presence of natural ingredients, but the effectiveness of the product remains the same.

What is my opinion on Mama Earth CoCo Face Scrub with Coffee and Cocoa?

Let us start with the pros, it has the most amazing fragrance ever. All the coffee lovers would agree with me. If anyone does not like fragrance in their products or has sensitive skin and cannot tolerate the fragrance, then this product is a big NO, NO.

I also have my other reasons to say no no to this face scrub.

Once I wash my face, I don’t get the squeaky clean feeling. It makes my skin oily and then I feel I need a face wash to remove the oil on my face. I am not sure if I’m the only one who feels, the same due to my skin texture.

I tried using it twice a week, at least for 2 to 3 weeks, but I did not get a pleasant feeling.

Usually, many skin experts and dermatologists recommend using a face scrub once a month or maybe once in two weeks. But Mama earth claims that we can use the scrub twice a week.

Pros:

• The good thing about this product was the coffee fragrance
• Free from SLES, sulphates, phthalates and other harsh chemicals

Cons:

• It made my skin oily and did not leave it squeaky clean
• Though it has good ingredients, it did not make my skin nice and smooth or clean as usually I get after using a face scrub.

Summary:

I would not recommend this mama earth face scrub as it did not give me the expected results for the price paid. Again I will say each skin type is different and it might have worked well for others, but unfortunately did not work for me.
